She was just a survivor. He was a ruthless leader, a king. Their destiny is to be lovers—but first, they must accept the choice of the stones. A mated bonded pair whether they like it or not.

Elyria is a fierce survivor living a life of brutal obscurity, entirely unaware of the devastating destiny thrumming in her veins. All of that shatters when she accidentally unearths the ancient Aura Stone. The relic instantly marks her, setting her on a collision course with a throne and a lover she never wanted. The Stone has chosen her as the last Queen.

Her freedom is immediately lost when she is kidnapped by Tyrion, the fiercely protective and dominating master of the Ember Stone's formidable power. Tyrion, a grief-stricken warrior, knows the Stone's choice is final. He forces the unwilling Elyria into a toxic partnership, believing his possessive control is the only thing that can save her and reverse the destructive blight consuming their world.

Bound by a terrifying magical connection that forces them to share dreams and destinies, Elyria and Tyrion are locked in a battle of wills and burning attraction. Their desperate quest to mend their powers, save ancient Emberscale, and heal their world forces them into the path of mythical dragon gods and a dark forces set on their destruction.

To save a dying world, the defiant, bullheaded Elyria and morally gray Tyrion must overcome their hatred for one another and accept the terrifying pull of their destiny.

Heir of the Ember Scale is a dark, character-driven fantasy and the explosive beginning of a fated enemies-to-lovers trilogy.

I read the book, and waited patiently for the audiobook. It did not disappoint! Dean and Anne did a great job. The perfect amount of angst. I would 100% recommend!

So steamy!

No, seriously, how dare you?

I just finished this audiobook, and I have one very important question: how dare you make something this good?

I’ll be honest, some of the tropes in this are not my go to (looking at you, miscommunication). I’m typically the first to roll my eyes and move on. And yet...I couldn’t stop this one. I had to keep listening. I had to see it through. It's just that good and that strong of a story.

The narration? Incredible. Completely locked me in. It elevated everything in a way that made it impossible to "walk away".

And despite my generally cynical disposition, I cried. More than once. Which feels like a personal attack, if I’m being honest.

So now I’m sitting here, emotionally compromised, slightly offended, and fully prepared to immediately start the next book.

Truly, how dare you.

5/5 stars, wouldn't change a thing.

I loved this book. Like, fully obsessed.
The FMC was fire, strong-willed, stubborn, and not here for anyone’s nonsense. And the MMC?? Went from full alpha-hole to submissive when it mattered, but still knew how to challenge her in the best way. The dynamic ate.
Dean and Ann made me laugh, cry, get mad, and feel everything in between. And the spice?? 🫠🥵 I was not okay, had me fanning myself and re-reading scenes like a menace.
More of this please!

5/5, no notes.

Fire, feels and full-on fanning 🥵🪭🪭

If you love an alpha hole dragon shifter, feisty and badass FMC, fated mates, tension, banter, SPICE and a great plot then this one is for you! Shelby, I absolutely love the world you’ve built and I love some of the side characters too! I can’t wait to read more! Ummmm chapter 20 was worth the 3 re-listens 🥵🤪. Dean and Ann did an amazing job at being Tyrion and Elyria. I can’t wait to see where their story takes them in the next book. LOVED this one so so much!

Heir of the Emberscale pulled me in quickly and kept the pace moving. The world building and dragon lore were really interesting, and the tension between the characters kept me wanting to keep listening. The duet narration by Dean Miller and Ann Dahlia was fantastic they brought the characters to life and made the emotional moments hit even harder. Their performances flowed naturally and made it easy to stay immersed in the story. If you enjoy fantasy with dragons, strong character dynamics, and great narration, this one is definitely worth the listen.

Dual narration done right
