Moving from the city to a small town, Shailyn knew things would be different, but she didn't realize how difficult it would be. When the town leader makes it obvious he does not agree with omegas using heat suppressants, and his son decides to cancel her order for more, she's left with no choice but to make a trip back to the city to get some before it's too late.

Alone.

She wouldn't let their outdated views suppress her right to choose.

This is a slow burn, omegaverse novella. There are detailed scenes and situations that may make some readers uncomfortable.

This book was a bit of a rollercoaster for me. I absolutely loved Shailyn. She was brave, hardworking, and unafraid to speak up for herself in an alpha-dominated world. She was also protective and kind. I loved her interactions with Mindy- another omega who was being pursued by an older aggressive alpha. I really wish this book showed more of Shailyn helping her and other omegas who wanted the suppressants. Omegas having their choice taken away- either by biology making them unable to rationalize for themselves, or by alphas who thought they knew better- made me furious! And is very symbolic of current political issues of women whose choices are once again being taken away. I admit Luke made me mad more than once. But I liked his character growth and wish it was explored more past where the book ends. Because it was his eventual willingness to see the other side that won me over. By the end I actually liked him- which I did not expect- and wanted to see more of their relationship, too.

Mike Kuhlman is a new-to-me narrator and I thought he did a good job narrating this story. I think this book should have had a female narrator since it is from Shailyn's point of view. But the majority of what I listen to is mm romance, so I am more than used to male narrators voicing female roles, so it didn't bother me at all.

This was a really good story. I liked that the main point was protecting omegas from violent alphas and giving them choices and control over their bodies. The FMC was a firecracker and she changed her world. The narrator was ok, I would have preferred either a female since the story is told from the FMC POV or a male and female narrator, but it was acceptable. This was definitely worth the read.

Unique plot in the omegaverse genre

Very enjoyable slower burn omegaverse romance. Shailyn is a very strong and stubborn omega and has great chemistry with Luke. This has a great storyline.

Enjoyable

Having already read this book and enjoyed it, I was really excited to know it was now in audio. The narrator did well. It flowed very smoothly to me and kept me engaged throughout the recording. My only issue is that this book is so short! LOL.

Set in the MF Omegaverse, Shailyn is an unmated Omega who has moved from the city to a small town with her parents. However, the small town has their own views on things and Shailyn finds herself at odds with some of the town folks, especially Luke, an Alpha and the son of the town's leader.

If you are interested in learning more of the MF Omegaverse, this is actually a good story to start with. It's on the lighter side of the genre and being a novella, it can at least get you more interested in the genre or it can totally turn you off to it. Trust me, this is way on the lighter side of the genre and is a way to gently lead you into the other side of it if you find you like it.

Short but great!
