Some dreams ask for sacrifice. Others demand everything.

I’ve loved Cooper Riddick for most of my life. Long before we crossed the line. Long before he left our small town and became Reign Cooper—the name in lights, the voice people chant back at from the crowd.

Loving him meant accepting second place, because music was always his first love.

We tried to keep things simple. Best friends. No promises. No expectations. But unrequited love doesn’t fade just because you ask it to, and eventually, wanting more started to hurt worse than walking away.

Now he’s back. Worn down by a dream that took more than it gave. And I’m not the same guy he left behind. I’ve rebuilt my life here, piece by piece, and I won’t give my heart to someone who can’t choose me. Not fully. Because this time, love isn’t enough on its own.

This time, wanting him means risking everything I’ve worked so hard to protect.

Resonance is a spicy mm second chance romance between a rockstar and ex-hockey player with a guaranteed HEA and is the second book in the Fractured Frequencies series.

I would have listened to this no matter what because Vari wrote it but when I found out Jason Clarke was one of the narrators I could not get it in my ears soon enough. He and Tim Paige fit the roles perfectly. Mr. Clarke has that broodiness to his voice perfect for the more serious Declan while Tim Paige is so loveable as the energetic Cooper. This will be a repeat listen in the future for sure.

I felt at a loss after finishing the audiobook the first time (currently on my second listen). Declan and Cooper are two characters who are not whole and complete unless beside each other. Best friends that have always loved each other, their love is that soul deep all consuming type that the reader can feel too.

Cooper is all sunshine and outgoing. Declan is not grumpy reserved and definitely not as outgoing. Besties who secretly love each other and each other's biggest supporters. Cooper is there for Declan and his hockey while Declan is Cooper's sounding board for all of his music. Just when Declan's world crashes down Cooper's starts to take off. Suddenly the two who were once inseparable are miles apart in distance that just continues to grow more and more as the days go by.

Vari does not go easy on our hearts with these two at all. Their road to an HEA will hurt your heart a few times over. Cooper and Declan both learn that the glitz and glamor are not always the greatness they seem. I swear Cooper's crash is the best thing that could have happened to him because it brings him back to Declan.

They are end game, it just takes a hot minute (or too many hot minutes) for that realization to sink in. Cooper definitely had his work cut out for him but I swear when these two finally throw caution to the wind and Cooper confesses his feelings along with other truths my heart was so dang full for them. Declan being Declan needs time to process what Cooper tells him and all I could do was keep my fingers crossed the entire time and then that ending....oh my heavens the happy tears that flowed and the breath I exhaled. The ending to their journey could not have been more beautiful!

Heartbreak that delivers an epic HEA!
