The girl next door. Pretty. Sweet. Kind. Submissive. Until I met her, I was alone with the dark desires that I didn't understand, that I couldn't reconcile. She became my best friend, and then she became so much more. Desire. Disgust. Shame. Dominance. I wouldn’t have survived until college without her. When we were together, I was at peace for the first time in my life. But it was too good to last. Our appetite for pain and pleasure destroyed us. And all the drinks in the world weren’t enough to get used to missing her. On the verge of earning my degree, Ana walks back into my life, those gray-blue eyes still able to see right through me. It’s the chance I’ve been waiting for. One last chance to overcome my shame. If only it were that easy.

The love story at the center of the book is absolutely lovely. Falling for a friend and being comfortable to explore your needs and desires together is wonderful and makes for great storytelling. While I believe being into BDSM woulld be controversial when you are a teen, it was a little hard to believe that it could continue to be an obstacle for 10 years. I appreciate the lack of manufactured drama it just got a little repetitive at times.
That being said this book is super hot! Kevin's wickedly delicious mouth could get me to do all kinds of things too.
Very good narration. I enjoyed Edward Thomas's reading of Voyeur but I thought he was even better here.

A Little Repetitive

A tantalizing story about two young people coming to terms about each other and their mutual desires for satisfaction. All the while battling themselves, their needs, relationships, keeping secrets, or being "normal". Throughout this story, Fiona Cole teases the reader with wether this couple will come together and accept who they are and to live with it together.

one can't hide whom one is without consequences

This is a friends to lovers romance. This book starts off when Anna moves next door to Kevin right befor Sophomore year of High school. They quickly became best friends. Kevin grew up in a very conservative house with is father being a local Politician. He was ashamed of his thoughts and what he was aroused by. Which is why he never mentioned what he liked sexually to any of the girls he was with. They both were attracted to each other but they didn’t want to ruin their friendship. One day Anna came over to Kevin’s house after school like normal when she accidentally caught him 😉 himself. Instead of turning away she confronted him about what he liked and found out he was turned on by the same things that she was ashamed of as well. They became a couple senior year in secret and discovered what kinks they both wanted to finally experience with someone that wanted the same. With someone that wouldn’t judege them for what they liked in the bedroom. However it was short lived. Kevin was so afraid of someone finding out and ruining his dad’s career. Graduation night they went to a party together and a jealous girl called Anna out for what she fantasiezed about ,at a privet girls night party. Kevin freaked out and completely bashed everything they had been figuring out together and called it disgusting. Anna left that night and went to college in another state. They didn’t talk for almost four years. Then at the start of her last semester of Senior year of college she moved back home because her mom got diagnosed with cancer. They ran into each other at a bar and all the feelings came back for both Anna and Kevin. At this point Kevin was no longer ashamed of his kinks. Anna had a really horrible experience the one time she openly admitted to a boyfriend about her kinks and swore to never go through that again. Kevin and Anna were back to being best friends again but they tried to just be casual partners, but she couldn’t handle the shame that consumed her. They got int a fight and Kevin gave her an ultimatum and went another four years avoiding each other. Then her mother passed. And Kevin couldn’t stand to not be the one to be at her side. They slowly worked their way back to friendship and officially tried to date for real. Fiona Cole did an amazing job showing the shame and growth over time both characters went through. It is no one’s right to judge a person based on their kinks/ preferences in or out of the bedroom. Holly Warren and Edward Thomas did a fabulous job narrating this book. I think I may be headed down a Fiona Cole rabbit hole and I will have now regrets.

This was just....intense. I loved every second. Also, Edward Thomas has the SEXIEST voice. Holly was super amazing as well. They brought this story alive.

For not reading this sooner! This book was such a nice, welcomed change! As an avid romance reader, I haven’t come across a book like this. It stayed on my TBR for awhile because I’m always nervous about books starting in high school, concerned that they will be too sophomoric for my taste. This was not at all. The friends to lovers, experimental, coming of age with a dash of love triangle spanning over 10 years, had me hooked from start to finish. I needed to know if they were ever going to be in the same headspace at the same time. For the most part the h was a likable character. More so in high school than the later years imo. The H was so great. Kevin is most definitely a true BBF and throughout the entire story his devotion to Anna was super special. The spice was good, not great but a plenty so 3/5 there. Can’t wait to start their novella to see what happens next. Narration was great, both new to me. Worth a credit!

Shame on me…
