He formed a special branch of the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) to investigate and carry on research into matters of and relating to atomic fission. In Hebrew its initials are Hemed Gimmel (גה).
And Ben-Gurion appointed Dr. Ernst David Bergmann to serve as its head.
