Now I have to go listen to Sinclair and then Liam’s story! I wish they’d all been in this set in order but I still enjoyed it!

Loved it all!

The story is definitely steamy and romantic. Jason Clarke is awesome as Michael. I probably stuck with the series as long as I did because he was just that good to listen to. I’m not so familiar with Roxy Isles. From her rendition of the secondary female characters I would guess that she doesn’t HAVE to portray Karma in a whiny/infantile way. But she does. Her performance probably would benefit from being slowed down a bit. But I suspect that would make the story interminably long. The really difficult parts, however, involve the almost bizarre about-face turns and twists in the plot. Michael can’t let Karma go in one chapter then sends her away in the next only to go find her against all rationale in the very next one. It’s like neither Michael and Karma make up their minds. Karma’s life gets threatened and/or she succumbs to sickness frequently. But only at weird times without rhyme or reason; mostly in order to facilitate, apparently, the very next improbable plot twist. Her heart condition is never raised during her pregnancy but becomes the driving impetus to leave a gun fight when she, Michael and his brothers are completely surrounded and outnumbered, in order to go find a Dr. In the end, the twists do advance the story but they’re so hare-brained and unexpected that, as a reader, it’s like taking a hair pin turn well above a reasonable speed limit. In other words, it’s really uncomfortable. Also, I know I’ve read some parts of the story, word for word in other books. That always raises the question of whether AI is at play. In another point, the emphasis on anal play, particularly after the MFC has indicated that she’s not really into it is uncomfortable (even though specific scenes rendered are particularly hot in this case.) As an aside, why anal play gets emphasized over breast play in heterosexual encounters in dark romances is always a mystery to me. Finally, there is a lot of satisfying and romantic dialogue about driving attraction, longing and love. But again, some of it takes place right in the middle of an action or event in which NO ONE would be engaging in those thoughts or dialogs. I wouldn’t recommend against this one. It has bright moments and some satisfying aspects. Again… Jason Clarke could read a dictionary and make it worthwhile. But future readers should be prepared. This one also has its flaws.

Great Heat; But this one REALLY requires A-LOT of disbelief suspension.
