About George Guidall
George Guidall, the prolific narrator who has performed more than 1300 books during the course of his career, has been the voice behind many of the longest-running and most popular mystery and thriller series: he is the voice of Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp, Daniel Silva’s Gabriel Allon, Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire, and Alex Berenson’s John Wells, to name just a few. Though his roughhewn and relatable style has made him the perfect fit for these series, Guidall is also known for his renditions of many classics, including Crime and Punishment, Les Misérables, and Elie Wiesel's Night, taking these complex and important works and untangling them for the listener. Gripping sci-fi also falls into his purview, having narrated Neil Gaiman’s Hugo and Nebula-winning book, American Gods, and Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series.
Born and raised in New Jersey, George Guidall was busily pursuing a stage and TV career (he has had appearances in many daytime soaps) when a fellow actor mentioned that he was narrating books on the side, and Guidall decided to give it a try. As he states in a New York Times interview, “It was a gig between shows." But now he spends most days behind the mic.
Over the course of his more than 20-year career, George Guidall has been highly decorated, receiving numerous Audies and other industry awards. In 2015 he received the Audio Publishers Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
