Shawna Reppert has mastered the art of creating worlds that are both realistic and fantastic. A Hunt by Moonlight is no exception with its Victorian London setting and murder mystery plot that seamlessly integrates werewolves, alchemy and automatons as if they had always been a part of our world.

The main characters are engaging in different ways: Royston is stubbornly (naively) upright and kind, in his own, repressed (Victorian) way. Richard grows on you. Catherine is feisty and smart. And they're all pretty bad at understanding each other's motives, which is hilariously frustrating at times. I look forward to reading the next book in this series to see how the relationships established in this book continue to evolve!

The narration matches the dark, London-fog atmosphere of the story. I would have appreciated a longer pause between scene changes, but overall, it was an enjoyable listen.

A London Victorian with Werewolf in it, tale done up extremely well. I have never read or listen to this Author before this book and found the author very articulate in additude of the Inspector and his Principles. The Werewolves you met in this story are not the storybook kind, but people bitten and then ostosized by society for something beyond their fault or wants.
