This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
The Kingdom of Wayhelm is starving, and it's all because the Crown Prince, whose magic is tied to the Kingdom's prosperity, is a traitor to the crown. He is wanted for treason and the Kingdom cannot heal until he is found.

Tyra will do anything to keep her family from starvation. One day, when she is searching for food in the woods near her home, she stumbles upon a cave, only to find the Crown Prince locked up and beaten within one inch of his life.
She's drawn to him, her magic pulsing to heal the traitor; but he's dangerous.

Not everything is what it seems.

Dive into this story of enemies to lovers, fated mates, and lots of swoon-worthy moments.

I love the story and the characters, but the virtual voice is so distracting and irritating. It’s often stilted and the inflections are in the wrong place. I keep stopping to envision what the dialogue was supposed to sound like. And it pronounces the crown prince‘s name three or four different ways in the same paragraph. It’s hard to enjoy a suspenseful or romantic scene when the virtual voice messes with the dialogue. I agree with the previous reviewer about the voice pitch— it’s really hard to follow when the man’s voice alternates between low and high-pitched and so does the woman’s.

If this had a real person voice I would probably give it five stars. A person would notice that “what?” was a question instead of a firm statement, for example.

I muddle through the virtual voice though because I like the story, the characters, and the romance. And I will listen to the sequel.

Virtual voice is distracting

I am upset because this book did not say it was part of a series and now I have to wait for the next book. I rarely listen or read a series unless all of the books are available. The story was amazing. I was also surprised by the narration. HOWEVER I still prefer a person so that male and female voices can be distinguished.

I really loved the story

I loved the story but the virtual voice will never be as good as a personal reading!

Ugh I hate virtual voice

This book was pretty fast paced but I thoroughly enjoyed it. My heart swelled with all the emotions, but the betrayal at the end got me. I hope Tyra and Raith will get their happily ever after once everything is all over!

My heart!

I like the story, but the virtual voice kept changing the name of the Prine "Rey" or "Raw"or "Raya". But I still liked it in spite of that.

I loved the story line and sweet love story
