In 1935, with a doctorate in art history and no prospect of a job, twenty-six-year-old Ernst Gombrich was invited to attempt a history of the world for younger readers. Amazingly, he completed the task in an intense six weeks, and Eine kurze Weltgeschichte für junge Leser was published in Vienna to immediate success. I loved this book and was sorry that it had to end.

Throughout the years I have red many parts of the world history. But after reading this book I was able to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Now I have a pretty clear picture of the flow of History. And I begin to wonder how History will characterize our century……
A must read.
