Though stress and anxiety abound, Buddhism offers a different way. Instead of struggling indefinitely, we can discover the spiritual treasures of awareness, compassion, and wisdom that are always with us.

Buddhism is rooted in the simple idea that you can train your mind to suffer less and flourish more. In this experiential guide, Cortland Dahl will take you on a journey through the core principles and meditation practices of the Buddhist tradition. The journey begins with teachings on the Four Noble Truths, practical observations that will help you understand the causes of unhappiness, and how you can access inner calm and deep insight through meditation. The journey continues with teachings on compassion, buddha nature, and the profound principle of emptiness, before culminating in a discussion of meditation practices that use common experiences like dreams and strong emotions to awaken. Through accessible teachings and relatable stories, you will learn simple methods to transform your mind and embrace true, unshakeable happiness.

A fascinating and instructional book, with practical methods and excellent explanations. The author’s life experience lends itself to the three flow of the book.

Did not enjoy the narrator: the intonation, the rhythm, the emphasize - all were distracting and lacked the feel of natural speech

A wonderful window to the vast world of Buddhism and meditation

This book is a perfect blend of application, inspiration and Buddhist conceptual teaching. My view of reality has shifted as a result of the wisdom and love expressed in this book. I’ve never read a Buddhist text before but have been a long term seeker and intermittent meditator. This book has nourished my heart and fundamentally changed my understanding of how and why I meditate.

Buddhist framework defined in a warm practical tone

the narrator mispronounced some basic terms and names. His idiosyncratic pronunciation of Shamatha, Buddhism and Guru were jarring. His pronunciation of Buddhism sounded like Parker Posey in The White Lotus s.3. His varied inconsistent pronunciation of Yongey Mingyur is sloppy but, hey, it stops your mind for a moment. I wish the author had narrated his own work. The content is great and I subsequently purchased a hard copy for reference and from which I plan to teach and lead discussion groups.

Great primer And great re-teachings
