Great narration and story. Don’t really enjoy the graphic sex scenes but the story was worth listening to in spite of them.

This book has long been a favorite of mine with the parallel stories housed within. The narrator does a lovely job of capturing each character. I am sure this is only one of the thousand times I will meet such beloved, flawed, amazing characters as I listen again to bring them to life once more.

Bertrice Small introduced me to historical romances and there will never be another like she was.

This has captivated and devastated me. The brilliance of the dual timelines is remarkable. And the lore—the exquisitely poignant and tragic lore—caught me off guard. I was unprepared for the emotional impact; it left me shattered.
