In the second installment of Night's Edge, Bannan Larmensu, the truthseer who won Jenn Nalynn's heart, learns his brother-in-law was sent as a peace envoy to Channen, capitol of the mysterious domain of Mellynne, and has disappeared. Jenn Nalynn must navigate the magical realm of the Verge to help her butter-eyed truthseer of a love interest, Bannan Larmensu, rescue his sister from a prison cell in Channen.

Jenn can’t go just anywhere, but she can take Bannan through the Verge to Channen much faster than he can get there alone avoiding the dangerous Verge. The adventure is steeped in intrigue as Jenn and Bannon are accompanied by: Jen’s house toad; Wisp, a dragon and her bff; and Scourge, Bannon’s magical war-horse-ish creature.

In this story Jenn makes many discoveries, including some important truths about who she now is.

Easy listening 🎧 to Jen Jayden’s superb narration and Julie Czerneda’s excellent world building. I really enjoyed discovering that there’s so much more to the Toads and the other magical beings.

I can’t believe I finished this huge book so fast. Good job there’s another one in the series!
