Half-Fae Elessia could have had everything. Literally.

Since her magic allows her to compel anyone to do her bidding by merely looking into their eyes, the world was at her feet. But after a tragic accident, she is thrown into the Fae king's dungeons and forced to swear a blood oath to him, binding her to his service.

Five years later, she's living amongst humans in Ellow and has created a life for herself—as much as she can with the king's promise to call in his debt looming over her.

When he finally comes to collect, she is made to infiltrate the human elections to determine whether the current regent is involved in the strange things happening in the land of Fae.

With the promise of freedom from the king's claws, Elessia is determined to see it through. Liberty is within reach as long as she can keep the lethal Fae guard watching over her from eliminating her before she unearths the information the king seeks.

But as she grows closer to the brooding human regent and secrets begin to unravel, Elessia realizes greater forces may be at play. And she might stand before the choice between her own freedom and that of a nation.

The story was slow at times. The FMC and MMC had no chemistry. Loved Merrick! Loved the Champaign trial part of the book

Genuinely don’t know what to say. Loved every single minute of this. Narration was great. Writing, storyline, characters (and their development), world/realm building, all of it, was amazing. Desperate to get the next audio released, esp with both male and female narration.

SPOILER …

Dying to know how these characters will eventually be reunited - the circumstances, location, immediate thoughts when they see eachother again, how do they reconnect - I NEED MORE!!!

Les, Merrick and Ardow fleeing on the ship feels a little like Celena boarding the ship to Wendoly.

Compelling. Passionate. Heartbreakingly beautiful.

I admit it was a tad boring and a little cheesy, fairly predictable but it feels like a strong enough start to stay on it. Influencers were hyping this and I’m not sure I will trust in their opinions in the future unless book two really steps things up.

This has potential!

Did I finish this one in less than 24 hours? 🙂‍↕️
Will I immediately be going into book 2? 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

This was a “just one more chapter” read for me - I got so invested into this, I had to find out what was going to happen next! This one’s filled with political scheming, hidden truths, and Fae bargains that quietly pull you deeper into the story. Faced with countless challenges, I loved how Lessia (FMC) was cunning and adapted as best she could. I knew Lessia wasn’t going to come out of this completely unscathed (it’s a multi-book series), but the twists along her journey still surprised me. I’m completely hooked and already reaching for book 2.

Also, if you love audiobooks, this one is a treat—the narrator does such a lovely job building tension and bringing Lessia’s emotions to life 🎧✨

Already need book 2!
