There is not any simple and public definition of information. While information scientists have their own definitions, but even among the scientists, there is not a brief unique definition and theory about the information. At the first glance, ‘information’ is all the knowing we know about the things or happenings we deal with in our everyday life. If so, then the world we are living in, is in everywhere, so ‘information’ is everywhere! We can understand things and happenings with or without any investigation. This is the story of our everyday life from the time we wake up in the morning and sleep at night. We are living in an ‘ocean of information’ and ‘hunt’ what we need from this ocean! Based on the history of the humans living on this blue planet, man has experienced or is experiencing three distinct ages of development on the earth. The first was the so-called ‘pre-industrial’ as the ‘matter-based’ era, like the stone age. Second was ‘industrial’ as the energy-based era like the steam age. And now we are experiencing the ‘post-industrial’ as the information-based era such as the communication and information age. This book tries to explain the nature, concept and role of information in our everyday life from the view of its fundamental theoretical and practical aspects. It may be useful for all the university students and all the people who are interested in to know more about the information. Author has tried to prune the text from the pure technical aspects but exact and brief enough so that the reader after reading, could talk about information at least in a few sentences. Science
