The Hamas attack upon Israel on October 7, 2023, was one of the most inhuman jihad attacks ever. The attackers gloried in their savagery and vied to outdo one another in cruelty. Yet despite its brutality, that attack unleashed expressions of hatred for Jews that shocked those who assumed such hate was a thing of the past.

Global public opinion turned sharply against Israel. Synagogues all over the US received bomb threats. Jews in Europe and the US were attacked.

October 7 also led to a large-scale reappearance of claims about the Jews' secret power and malevolence. Claims that Jews are enemies of all that is good have become mainstream as they have not been since Hitler put a bullet in his brain.

In this book, historian Robert Spencer reveals the sources of today's Jew-hatred in pre-Christian paganism, Christianity, Islam, and national and international socialism, and rebuts the most common claims against Jews.

The resurgence of antisemitism should worry everyone who is concerned about the recurrence of one of the darkest chapters in human history. The world today is on the brink of returning to such barbarism. Antisemitism: History and Myth is an attempt to keep that from happening.

I found Anti-Semitism by Robert Spencer to be a clear and informative overview of a very old and persistent problem. The audiobook does a strong job tracing the history of anti-Semitism over more than 2,000 years, showing that many of the ideas we hear today are not new at all, but recycled versions of much older accusations.
One of the most valuable aspects of this book is how it systematically addresses and dismantles common anti-Semitic myths. This includes misconceptions about Judaism as a religion, misunderstandings and distortions about the Talmud, and modern political claims about the State of Israel. The author takes the time to explain these issues in a way that is accessible while still being grounded in historical context.
It’s also worth noting that Spencer writes from the perspective of a committed Christian, which adds an interesting dimension to the work. Regardless of one’s perspective, this makes it harder to dismiss the book as simply defending Judaism out of personal allegiance, and instead frames it as a broader historical and analytical examination.
Overall, this audiobook is a useful introduction for anyone looking to better understand the roots and persistence of anti-Semitism, as well as the recurring patterns behind it.

The authors somewhat far-out reasonings are immediately recognizable.

You may not agree 100% with Spencer (The Economist is certainly no Far -Left publication)

Some details might be explained on more detail (Jordan was created as a result of British-French rivalry)

Overall is an amazing book that exposes long held and naturally accepted prejudices against Jews. Well structured, it smashes longhand racist theories and exposes the true victims in this never-ending nightmare
