You don’t know what waits below — until you fall.

During a remote climb, Max’s partner disappears into a narrow fissure. When Max descends after him, he enters a darkness that twists sound, warps space, and feels alive.

A tense psychological horror short story for fans of The Descent, claustrophobic terror, and the creeping, Lovecraft-tinged atmosphere of underground horror.

About the story

Max hears the crack before he sees the fall. His partner is gone — swallowed by a vertical wound in the earth.

What begins as a rescue descends into something far stranger. The deeper Max moves through the tunnels, the more the world distorts: echoes repeat wrong, footsteps stalk him, and the air itself feels aware. Something down there is moving.

Every passage pulls him further from the surface — and closer to the truth he’s spent years avoiding. A truth buried as deep as the chasm itself, where isolation becomes hallucination… or something worse.
