Shane Ibbs is a modern day Oral Storyteller who first heard traditional stories as a child from his father and often repeated them to his siblings and eventually his own three children. In 1997 Shane went to Canada and while he was there, he was invited to meet with the indigenous Metis people and be part of their Ceremonies and a Story Healing Circle, an immense privilege. This experience not only rekindled Shane’s storytelling spark, it also provided a profound shift in his thinking as he began to use ‘Applied Storytelling’ as a Social Worker and then as a Counselling Therapist. Join us for this wonderful discussion with Shane as we look at how storytelling connects us to the natural world, and the world connects to story. He shares a couple of stories including the wonderful Thomas the Thatcher, one of Duncan Williamson’s passed on tales.
