Despite round-the-clock protection, all the Luciano men are killed the night before a family wedding. The don's wife, Graziella, holds together what's left of the family - daughters-in-law Theresa and Sophia, and Theresa's daughter Rosa - while instructing their lawyer to sell off business holdings.

The women are left to pick up the pieces and recover money that Carolla has stolen. Little do they know there is a traitor in their midst: Carolla's adopted son Luka has been acting as the women's partner and protector. Once they discover his secret, the women seek revenge, and a new mob leader rises to the top.

The inaccuracies related to the mafia and the unbelievable coincidences drove me crazy. The fact that Sofia gives her shot away to be rich the poor child had a horrible life and then she ended up killing that child. And this happens at the very end of the book when we we’re waiting and waiting and waiting when Sofia will see that necklace. I love Linda LaPlante and I’ve read along with all of her books, but this second mafia book I couldn’t even finish. After getting to chapter 20, I just jumped to the end to see that she saved that little tidbit for the very end so I would’ve had to suffer through four hours more of this ridiculous story. Linda stick to your crime stories the non-mafia crime stories.

Stick to the crime, not the mafia stories
