An abandoned house. A forgotten evil. Home sweet home....

Shane Ryan returns to his hometown of Nashua, and the childhood memories that have haunted him throughout his life. Something sinister prowls the shadows of his family home. And a darkness threatens to destroy all he holds dear.

Twenty years ago, the dark force took Shane's family. They vanished within the halls of their shadowy old house. Now, more relatives have gone missing. But a childhood memory stirs in his mind - a long-forgotten encounter with a sinister presence that has always lurked just out of sight.

To confront this malevolent evil, Shane must peel back the secrets of his former home. His investigation will take him on a journey that challenges everything he thought he knew about himself and his past. But can he banish his demons once and for all?

Or will the darkness consume him….

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

So, I am a big fan of the horror/paranormal/fantasy genres. This is a HUGE collection of books for a single credit, so I was more than happy to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. The whole series pretty much follows the main character, Shane, through his life. Shane Ryan is an interesting character that is relatable. The narrator does a great job of bringing the books to life. All an all, this omnibus is long, well executed, and very entertaining. I absolutely devoured all 65.5 hours. Definitely worth a credit!

So damn good!

Eloise is by far my favorite character. I was on the edge of my seat, I became angry, sad all at once. the narrator was really really good! You will not be disappointed.

I initially picked up this series by Ron Ripley because I was looking for something spooky to get into for Halloween and needed a long enough story to keep me engaged during my 15 hours of weekly driving. While the first book was somewhat tame, it piqued my curiosity about Shane Ryan and his ghostly adventures, leaving me eager for more.

Each book includes a bonus section that delves into how a main character became a ghost, which adds an interesting layer to the narrative. The second book significantly upped the stakes and ramped up the action, making it quite engaging. However, by the ninth book, some chapters contained details that were so graphic they genuinely made me gag.

Throughout the series, Shane evolves, but his growth isn't always in a positive direction. The continuity is impressive; details from each book carry over, such as Shane's ear mutilation, which is referenced consistently until the end of the series.

I also noticed a distinct growth in Ripley’s writing style from the beginning to the end, showcasing his development as a storyteller. Initially, I found Thom Bowers' voices, particularly the female ones, quite annoying. However, as the series progressed, I grew to tolerate and eventually appreciate his narration. The variety of accents he portrays is enjoyable and done well, making the experience more engaging as he maintains them throughout the series. Overall, it became a compelling journey that I didn't want to end. I will definitely be listening to this series again later down the line.

From Tame to Terrifying.
