Story was good but there was almost no romance scenes. Ended book in a cliffhanger

No spicey scenes really

I’m not going to spoil this book for the next reader—because it deserves to be experienced. That said, I will be honest: for me, it was a bit of a slow burn at the beginning. Once you understand the female lead, especially her backstory, it all starts to make sense. I highly recommend reading the prior books she appears in, because they really explain why she behaves and reacts the way she does here.
Now… the male lead? Chef’s kiss.
You have a character who’s grown tired of his “normal” because life has settled into a predictable rhythm for him—and then along comes someone who is completely not normal in his world. Cue frustration, mental gymnastics, tension, and delicious emotional chaos. Watching him navigate that shift was genuinely enjoyable.
By the end, you’re absolutely invested and need to know what happens next.
Which is exactly why I went ahead and pre-ordered book two without hesitation.
