Most books on ADHD don't dare expose the genuine grit of the moment-by-moment peaks and valleys of this special parenthood - the gut-wrenching, crying on the bathroom floor, feeling like you're losing your mind truth of the matter that is learning to successfully parent a child with ADHD. Boy Without Instructions: Surviving the Learning Curve of Parenting a child with ADHD changes that.

Williams shares her unfiltered thoughts and emotions during her progression through this learning curve during this harrowing ride. Right before your eyes, this initially grief-stricken momma transforms from obsessed-with-ADHD control-freak and helicopter mom to optimistic and (mostly) confident parent of a child who happens to have ADHD. Boy Without Instructions validates your grief and guilt, yet reveals that it's truly possible to craft a (mostly) joy-filled life for your child with ADHD, yourself, and your family.

Well documented chronicle of the learning curve of raising a child with ADHD. This story could have been mine. I find it so tragic that there is a lack of knowledge about ADHD, and lack of help for families navigating this challenge. The author offers insights into successful strategies for helping to support the child.

Well told, so tragic that this keeps happening to our ADHD children

I loved the honesty of the story, it's truly from the heart. I was taken aback by her perspective of ADHD. Listening to Pennys story I judged her for being a helicopter mom but sympathised with her motovation. My approach is different to hers but i certainly learned a thing or two from this book. Although this is a very personal account its relatable and is a book as much about how to approach ADHD as it is what not to do. The narrator is really great she told the story so well and with emotion i thought it was read by the author.

A Very honest account of a mother

I enjoyed this book very much. I would recommend it if you have struggled with coming to terms with the challenges of parenting a child with ADHD. The author has a engaging way of telling her story. I think I can relate to her struggle and that's why it made it so easy to listen to. I'm sad that it's over... want to go check out her blog now!
