At long last, the third installment in the Andrew Z. Thomas series and prequel to Crouch's and Konrath's thriller Stirred...

Somehow, Luther Kite has found them.

Following the events of Desert Places and Locked Doors, Andy Thomas and Violet King are hiding out in the wilds of northern Canada, where Violet has a four-month-old son and a burgeoning romance with Andy. On a cold, rainy night at their cabin in the woods, the promise of an idyllic life that seems just around the corner is shattered when a man from their past, a monster of pure malevolence, returns. What he has in store for them will challenge their understanding of evil and stretch the fibers of their love to the breaking point.

Fantastic ending to a great story. I loved the way that Crouch finished the book. I am not going to spoil anything, but .... pretty intense. This whole book was intense! Great writing.

So the tables get turned in this 3rd book of the Luther Kite series. It was much shorter than I expected although it says it is a novella and the price reflects that. This was clearly my fault for not reading the full description. I still highly enjoyed and found it worth reading. I especially liked the ending. Not sure where the bad reviews are coming from especially the ones stating this is not his typical writing for this series or that it us not a thriller because it is. And I even read one that said it was just a love story and that it is not except to describe relationships and where the characters are in life.

Great third book in this series.

The story started off so well, but it went on far too long. It feels almost like Crouch had some extra material stashed in a drawer of forgotten or scrapped ideas and said, "f-it", let's keep going! This installment was superfluous, messy, and completely undermined what started as a very tight and compelling narrative.

This did NOT need to be a trilogy.

I did not care for the ending but otherwise this was a really good series
