This book starts with a bang and ends with a bang. So many mysteries and secrets uncovered. Emilia travels to Arizona, after her mother's death, in search of her father. Once she arrives in Phoenix, she meets Alex who takes her in after she receives less than a warm welcome from her dad. From here there is action and excitement, romance and heat.

Rebecca Shea did an amazing job writing a story that is so full of movement, you can't seem to turn it off. This is my second time listening to this audio and it won't be my last.

Vikas Adam was amazing as both Alex and Sam. The emotion pours through his voice and the suffering and hurt as well as the longing and desire seep from his voice. Erin Mallon is a favorite of mine and she doesn't disappoint as the voice of Emilia.

So many twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages or just playing the one more chapter game. I was unsure about the story in the beginning, but everything fell into into place and made sense, even some things that just blew me out of the water. Definitely worth the read/ listen.
The performances by Erin Mallon and Vikas Adam were perfection. Lots of emotional scenes that were just amazing. This was actually my first full book narration for Vikas. I asked a friend to recommend her favorite to me and I was not disappointed.

Wow, this is great. Dirt poor and recovering from her mother's unexpected and uncharacteristic death, Emilia leaves her small town Illinois trailer park for Arizona to find/meet her Father. I love how she is written! Refreshingly strong, and anything but helpless despite her poor circumstance. Em has a pride and strength that makes her identifiable, and doesn't play her as a victim. The male lead, Alex, meets her randomly in passing at her Phoenix motel, immediately drawn to her naiveté. He takes her in after learning of her poor circumstance and failed family connection, feeling immediately protective of her. Alex is a bright business school graduate, raised in wealth, who is forced to run his massive family drug smuggling/illegal immigration operation after his kingpin father is jailed. He hates it, and attempts to instill some humanity in he cold-blooded criminal operation despite the circumstance. The author weaves the complication of the crime story with the build of Em and Alex' relationship expertly, and the alternating narratives performed by these two great readers bring the story to life nicely. Fair warning, it is a cliffie, continued in Book 2. Well worth it!
