Secrets ignite like wildfire. Can love withstand the flames?

Charley

Life in Mountmooke Bay is finally falling into place. My teenage son, Troy, is figuring out his future. Drew—my steady, stubborn firefighter—makes me feel like I’ve found home again.

Until Drew’s ex shows up.

Drew

Loving Charley is the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

But keeping us together? That’s harder than putting out fires at work.

Gran’s persistent talk of babies stirs the pot.

But nothing tests love like the ghosts a relationship you thought was long buried.

Charley’s Revelation is a steamy, emotional small-town romance about love, a troublesome past, and risking it all. This is the second fiery book in the Mountmooke trilogy, leaving you burning for more and counting down the days until Charley’s Devotion ignites the final spark.

I really hoped for something better with this story, but it ended up being more of the same as the first book, with no real reason for the continuance of the series.
The narrators were okay.
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

okay story

This was a good continuation of the story but again I feel like there are time jumps and things left under or not developed or completed in the story. Overall I do like the characters and narration was done well.

Charley and Drew weathered the pressure of her ex coming back to spend time with their son and now Drew will have to see if he can get Charley on board with him. But things are never easy and just as Charley and Drew are on good footing, his ex-fiancee is back with some devastating news. I really liked the story, but was often annoyed with Charley. She is so wishy-washy and kept wondering if the grass was greener on the other side. Wise minds prevailed and, once again, there is hope for Charley, Drew and Trent.
Kate Clover and Ryan Pierson did a wonderful job with the narration. Their dynamic voices, varied intonation and inflection gave each character a unique voice and personality. They kept the pace steady and it was a joy to listen to them bring the story to life.

Delightful!

Charley’s Revelation continues the heartfelt journey that began in the first book, and I was once again drawn into Charley and Drew’s evolving relationship. The author does a lovely job exploring their vulnerabilities, their connection, and the balance between the sweet moments of love and the sparks of passion that keep things exciting. I enjoyed following the path their story took and appreciated the emotional growth both characters experienced.

The dual narration remains a highlight. Kate Clover and Ryan Pierson bring warmth, tension, and charm to the characters, enhancing both the romantic and dramatic elements of the story. There were, however, a few places where the plot seemed to jump forward abruptly, giving the impression that something had been skipped or left unsaid. A smoother flow in those moments would have made the story even stronger.

Still, this was an enjoyable listen, and I continue to feel invested in the characters and their lives. It’s a solid second entry in the series, and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next book takes them.

I listened to the audiobook of Charley’s Revelation, and while it had a lot of elements I usually enjoy in a small-town romance, it ended up being a mixed experience for me.

The narration was definitely a highlight. Kate Clover did a solid job, and Ryan Pierson’s voice was the standout, smooth, velvety, and easy to listen to. His performance added warmth and emotion that sometimes felt stronger than what was on the page itself.

Story-wise, the setup had promise: a single mom, a firefighter hero, lingering ex-drama, and a tight-knit small town. Unfortunately, the characters never fully pulled me in emotionally. I wanted to feel more connected to Charley and Drew, but their relationship didn’t quite grab me the way I hoped. The conflict felt familiar, and while there was plenty of tension, it didn’t always land with the impact it was aiming for.

The romance and steamy moments were… fine, but they fell a little flat for me. They were there, but they didn’t have the heat or emotional punch I expect from a story that’s described as “fiery” and “steamy.”

Overall, this is a decent listen, especially if you’re already invested in the Mountmooke trilogy or enjoy small-town firefighter romances. For me, though, great narration couldn’t fully make up for characters and chemistry that never quite ignited.

The spark never quite caught
