Cooper Krenshaw knows what it's like to feel the bright lights upon him, the sound of the crowd roaring when he walks on stage; after all, he happens to be one of the biggest names in country music at the moment. And he has knowingly just dropped off the grid; the first decision he has made on his own in quite some time. Cooper only thought he was looking for a challenge when he walked off of that concert stage in Chicago. After finding himself in Devil's Bend, Texas, he soon realizes that the dream he's been chasing might not be the one he was after all along.

Now he's found himself not only starting over in a new town, but he's pretty sure he's met the toughest challenge of his life... she just happens to be an angel in blue jeans.

Tessa Donovan hasn't been the best of friends with fate for quite some time now. Owning and operating The Rusty Nail, a small bar in her hometown of Devil's Bend, has been enough to keep her going through the motions of her life. But it's the only thing she's got. After losing her husband 15 short months after they were married, Tessa has spent the last four years chasing dreams in order to maintain her sanity. Only those dreams are soon ripped right out of her grasp by a sexy country music star who claims he descended on her small town by accident.

Coincidence? Or has fate stepped in once again? Whatever the case, Tessa knows the handsome cowboy might get to overtake her dreams, but she's bound and determined that he won't take her heart.

Tessa Donovan is the owner of The Rusty Nail, a bar that hosts big and small names in the music industry every weekend. Cooper Krenshaw – a huge name in the music industry decides to take a break and ends up at his roommate (Tessa's brother) bar. He enjoys this style of performing, laid-back, watching couples two step as he croons.

As Cooper reflects on his past and future, Tessa deals with her past in the way she knows how. Will the two of them become more than fun flirtation? What will happen when the big lights show up looking for Cooper? Will Tessa be able to get over her past and forgive herself? Will they couple up and begin their journey or will all of the other factors smother this tiny flame – keeping a potential bonfire from forming?

I really enjoyed this book. It was romantic, a bit sexy and a medium amount of drama. A very good mix.

The dual narration was excellent, I enjoyed both performers.

This book reminds me of a movie from the 1990's starring George Strait, I believe it was called Pure Country.

Tessa (29) and Cooper (early thirties) could have been likeable characters but they were just too insecure to be truly interesting. "I'm not good enough for someone to love me" would have been understandable in high school, maybe college; however I thought it just annoying at their ages.

The plot could have been engrossing (2 very different people with the same dream of building a equestrian center for therapy purposes), the small Texas town was homey, the narration was excellent and the author was talented. Unfortunately, I found it hard to care about characters who don't like themselves.

FYI, medium hot sex scenes, some explicit language, no BDSM violence, suitable for 18-25 age group

Really enjoyed this book! The narrator was great, story kept moving and honestly wasn't too predictable.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I would say that any book is well spent time.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Anticipated.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Maybe not have that Texas drawl so much (I am from East Texas) ... we don't all talk that way.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

I think it was a good romance story as written.
