My favorite "trope" is an assassin who has or finds compassion, and Az does not disappoint!! I'm also a huge fan of "found family", which is also another huge feature in this one. I really enjoy that the MC has a ton of skill and power but doesn't just blow his way through every battle--he has to truly fight for what he believes in. The narration is simple, no fancy voices or anything, but still done very well.

One of my staff suggested this book to me for a road trip listen. Action from the beginning and the magic system and world building was great. I thoroughly enjoyed and believe Cassie Sanchez hit a home run with Chasing, so much that I purchased her second book for the trip back home. Great Job.
