Matthew, they thought, was just going through a phase of talking to himself. And, like many parents, they waited for him to get over it, but it started to get worse. I am a fan of Wyndham’s work and while chocky is not his best work, it was decent and had some interesting elements. I was not super convinced by the true identity of Chocky but it was interesting enough to listen to. The story was told from the perspective of the boy Matthew’s father and so a lot of the conflict is told second hand.
