Pay attention, this is a 2hr read. The story has a good premise but need to be expanded.

Very short book!

This wasn’t so much a book as it was part one, introducing the MC and doing a little world building.
It’s YA in tone and has an Asian aesthetic, with names like Ichiro, swords, and concepts of family loyalty and clan duty.

I wish there was more attention to painting a picture. Kai was described as have short legs, but otherwise I don’t know what she looks like. The dragons were identified by color, but are they serpentine or beefy?

I enjoyed the relationship between the masters and the acolytes- very Black Belt Theater. But, no sooner was the stage set then we’re told they’re under attack and then … we’re not actually shown the attack. The story just moved to the next plot point, namely Kai and the need to bond a dragon. The emphasis on telling rather than showing kept part one on the shallow end.

Good hook, okay execution

This story is short, and really pulls a person into it. I can Not wait until the next book is available on Audible. The Narrator does a Great job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.

I Found this Book an Interesting Start to the Series
