A girl with a secret and a prince on a mission--

When Prince Anthony spies Eleanoria Woodston outside her family home dressed as a servant, he knows something is amiss. Pretending to be John, his cousin's outrider, he decides to take matters into his own hands and figure out why Ella hasn't been seen at court. And more importantly why the daughter of one of the wealthiest families in the kingdom dresses like a pauper.

Ella has had her own bout of trials, including losing her beloved father and facing the wrath and jealousy of her stepmother and stepsisters. Becoming a servant doesn't seem all that bad until the handsome John comes into her life, now he appears to be upsetting everything. Never before has she been so unsettled. Just his presence is making her dream of a life beyond this one.

When John invites Ella to the ball and she grudgingly accepts, he wonders if he's truly losing his mind. How would he ever pull off pretending to be John while obviously hosting the ball as Anthony? Especially when the stubborn girl has made it quite obvious she would never attend a ball with a snobbish prince.

I always loved the story of Cinderella and this version was just as good as some of the others I've listened to.

The story

What a story teller. Perhaps the best version of Cinderella yet. It is a favorite story of mine and i can be rather picky about it’s telling.

The morality used was a breath of fresh air

Somewhat recognizable just enough most of it completely brand new. Wonderful retelling. Wonderful story its own right. So much so I was able to ignore the wooden narration

Loved this wonderful retelling

I can't explain how lovely this book is. Ella has more spunk than you night think, but is still very kindhearted. and the connection between her and Antony was beautiful-- I love it when the couple get to know eachother beforehand and it's not love at first sight. oh, and this feels like the live action Cinderella that Disney made i think in 2015? anyway it is one of my all time favorites, and this book just felt like it and made it that much more enjoyable. oh and this is completely clean, other than a certain amount of kissing, but it's not graphic or anything, so definitely good for anyone. the only downside was the virtual voice, but it's a price can pay for a free good audio book

Feels like the Disney Live Action Cinderella!!!

This is the second book by Jenni James that I've read and I really like the style of story telling. The characters are grounded and reasonable and there isn't too much angst. Also love that the stories are clean and sweet, but still don't feel like they're too immature. Would recommend for a nice calm listen. The Virtual Voice fumbled it at times but was still tolerable.

Great story telling
