Reporter Holly Thorne is intrigued by Jim Ironheart, who has saved 12 lives in the past three months. Holly wants to know what kind of power drives him, why terrifying visions of a churning windmill haunt his dreams, and just what he means when he whispers in his sleep that an enemy who will kill everyone is coming."A master storyteller, sometimes humorous, sometimes shocking, but always riveting. His characters sparkle with life. And his fast-paced plots are wonderfully fiendish, taking unexpected twists and turns." Always love when these two narrators read any books! Definitely worth a listen, 15 word minimum

Great listen

Although I have read or listened to many Dean Koontz books, this is one of my absolute favorites! Published in 1991, I can't believe I missed this one! The story has so many twists that it truly kept me engaged until the very last paragraph! Even though I now know the ending, I can't wait to listen again to find what I missed the first time!

A New Twist to the Very End!

I read this years ago when it first came out. I remembered liking it and that was about it; so decided to give it a go on audio. First off, this IS a good read. I highly recommend doing that than listening to it.
As in my title, the narration is…not inspiring. Both narrators seem to be without emotion. Production wise, it makes sense to have the female narrate the female and the male do the male. But that isn’t what they did. Just taking turns every chapter left the story distended; like I had to re-introduce myself to each character every time the narrator changed.
Now to Holly. She is insufferable! And when it gets to the point of the ‘questioning’ at the windmill; Jim should’ve rendered her mute somehow. Unbelievable in the truest sense of the word, that she could literally meet an entity vastly superior to humans and immediately start attacking it, completely disrespectfully, making demands (like a typical careless reporter) and somehow expect answers and respect in return. Just this one, ugly part of the story ruined the audio book for me. At least when I read it, I can give the characters personalities and change the dynamic in which things are said.
Here, we’re stuck with a horrible rendition of a good book.

Poor narration, unlikeable character good story
