For Constance Verity, saving the world isn't the hard part; it's keeping her new, ordinary life from falling apart along the way that's going to be tricky.

Constance Verity Saves the World is the next audiobook in the witty Constance Verity trilogy, which Booklist named a Top 10 SF/Fantasy title of 2016.

Constance successfully became an ordinary person. People warned her it would be boring, and they were right. That's exactly why Connie loves it. But there's an Adventurer-shaped hole in the cosmos now and a lot of interested parties eager to fill it. Not all of those candidates are fit for the role, and if the Adventurer falls into the wrong hands, it can lead to chaos and destruction.

Constance still has all the skills of her old life, but she's no longer chosen. Yet when the fate of the world is at stake, she sets off, reluctantly, to keep the forces of evil from stealing the destiny she abandoned.

In general, I find sequels disappointing, particularly when the book they follow relied on some kind of gimmick. I was concerned that a second Constance Verity book would suffer from the fact that so many "epic hero" stereotypes had already been mined by the first book, and was pleasantly surprised that Martinez was able to continue the entertaining action without feeling like he was digging for scraps.

As good as the first book

I've said it before - and I'll probably say it again when the next one comes out - I love A. Lee Martinez's books. And I especially love the Constance Verity series.

I just finished "Constance Verity Saves The World" and I was worried that he wouldn't be able to keep up the fantastic story he'd started in "The Last Adventure Of Constance Verity". I am happy to report that I should not have worried. Connie, once again, has saved the day for me and everyone else on the planet.

Dealing with new problems, old enemies, and the possible loss of the magic spell she's been living with her whole life makes things... interesting for Connie and her friends. But mostly Connie.

I love the world that Martinez has made for this. It's - and this is not a knock in any way - like the crazy, self-aware "super scientist" aspect of The Venture Brothers in the early seasons. And It's great. He takes the absurdity of super scientists, evil villains, magicians and aliens and makes them all an integral part of the universe that makes it fun without being ridiculous.

4 Stars for Constance Verity, A. Lee Martinez and Cynthia Farrell.

Constance Verity Saves my world - yet again

I read and listen to books as a diversion to every day life. This author takes you out of the dreary and into a different dimension or galaxy, looking at things from a unique perspective. I love all books A. Lee Martinez. Cynthia Farrell is an excellent narrator.

A. Lee Martinez Does It Again

I love every A Lee Martinez book I've read, so the pacing on this one was a surprise. the humor I've become accustomed to was lacking for the majority of the book.

Not his best work

Great follow up to the original! Turns tropes upside down with style! Always a pleasure to get to know Lee's characters, who are never as simple as they appear on first glance.

Tons of fun!
