The author and I share a mutual discord channel, so part of me expected a supernatural story, and I'm glad for the direction this one went to
The tale is as desolate as the setting, the connection equally as barren. We go on this journey with Orson, as oblivious to the ending as he.
Visceral, beautiful, and gruesome. I am so glad for the connections made that lead me to this book 💚💚💚💚 Misters Nelson and Dickison worked well in bringing life to this book.
My only complaint is my brain could not focus enough to keep track of all the perspective changes. When the party interacted, there were several to keep track of, and one could be privy to any of their thoughts at any second. But that is more of a, "I can't pay attention enough to listen to this any slower," problem, and not a fault of Mr. Nelson's.
Honestly I would never have picked up this book without having the connections I did. All the Pretty Horses was required reading in AP English, and my family had read The Dark Tower series, and I wanted to before the movie came out. I don't gravitate to western styles. Now I'm beginning to rethink that decision.
Thank you for this tale. It will be bouncing around my brain for weeks to come.

I also enjoyed how human this story was. Focusing on the characters and seeing what the west will bring out of people.
Captivating story
