A destiny uncovered...a hidden world...and dragons.

After a car accident left my only parent - my father - in the hospital, I was swept away to the Dragon Born Academy by my estranged grandmother. If I had to be there, I'd be an observer of this place with its rituals and superstitions.... After all, everyone's made it clear I don't belong.

But then it happened...and Ashe Carrick - my impossibly irresistible bond-mate - happened. Being cracked open changed everything.... Who I thought I was, what I thought I was....

Dragon born.

The words alone bring to mind monsters and princesses in castles.

I am the princess and the monster they locked away. However, my story has no damsels in distress, waiting to be rescued.

It's self-rescue time, and I'm done playing nice.

Tired of seeing YA books that are 16 year olds that are destined for the older guy and blah blah.. just couldn’t make it further than like little over an hour in .. the whole concept annoyed me..

Just Couldn’t

I thought the story was very interesting and original. I enjoyed the book although I did find the age difference between the main character and her soul mate to be a bit much, especially considering she was only 16

Creative... Dragon tattoo

The fmc was childish, gullible, and lacked common sense. Every turn she did passive aggressive things to make every situation worse. She selfishly wanted to complete the bond, even though she’s 16 and her bond mate is 23. Why was her bond mate 23?!!! That just doesn’t sit right with me. The story would’ve been better if she was at least 18 , more mature, and the strong heroine the description makes her out to be.

The FMC was very disappointing

SPOILERS....

I had this on my wish list for a few months. I was very disappointed. The synopsis made the FMC sound like a tough, no nonsense young woman who takes on the dragons. What you get is a scared, emotional 16 year old girl who is thrown into the river of Dragonborn without a boat. The adults around her leaves her in the dark about her people even though everyone knows she didn't know squat. She sinks and swims on her own and with a couple of good friends. The part of the story I really didn't like (SPOILER COMING) is that she is bonded to a 23 year old man. You can see the difference in maturity levels and it made me cringe. I actually felt sorry for her and how the adults around her treated her.

This is definitely geared to the preteen, teenage crowd.

Disappointed

16 yo in love with a 23 yo… very difficult to get past this. The world building was also subpar

Poor choice of love interest
