"Crime and Punishment" opens in 1860s St. Petersburg, where Rodion Romanovich Raskolnikov, an impoverished former student, has come psychologically unhinged. He wanders about the city, barely eats, and hatches a vague plan he wishes to "test" one afternoon. He goes to the apartment of an old pawnbroker, who lives with her sister Lizaveta, and pawns his father's watch. Upon leaving, he repeats to himself his intentions: he will murder the old crone and rob her.

This audio book should never been sold or “recorded”, as it is a machine that has generated the voice. I do not understand why Audible has this on the list. Can I get my credit back, as I only have listen to it a few minutes. I had to by another audio book of the same tirle another place, but with a real human reading loud.

The cadence is all wrong. It says this was read by Thomas Goodrich but I think that is not true. There is no way this is being read by a human.

Don’t bother purchasing. The narrating is terrible, I tried my best but an hour in and I was not retaining the story. It is so hard to listen to, just purchase a better performance or read the paper copy.
