Dinosaur is the first novel in the New World series, brilliantly brought to life by BBC's Chris Barrie (Red Dwarf).

The leader of a sinister political group hatches an insane plan to save humanity. Fighting to stop them could doom us all. When every action and decision may determine the fate of everyone who has ever lived, the right choice is not always clear. However, for one man, there is no choice at all...

Captain James Douglas sets off on a mundane transport and supply mission that quickly descends into disaster. Leading a fledgling society through a wild and hostile world was not part of his brief. Nor was the custodianship of all human life, history, and endeavor. Worse still, an enemy hides among his passengers, while the knowledge of a boy, just days out of school, may be all that stands between mankind and extinction.

The crew of the USS New World is lost almost 100 million years ago in Mid-Cretaceous Gondwana. It is the time of the dinosaur...for now.

Critic reviews

“A highly suspenseful time-travel adventure series, combining a clever mix of detailed prehistory and history throughout - not to mention some great bad guys. The twists and turns really keep you guessing, while the darkness and humour really keep you reading. Not to be missed.” (Black Sheep Books)

“Spaceships, wormholes and dinosaurs! Don't miss it.” (Stephen Baxter, author of The Long Earth)

“Epic! Full of big ideas and clever protagonists! A thrilling tale told on a huge scale. Llewelyn clearly knows - and loves - his dinosaurs, a knowledge and passion that shines through. The result is a big, bold adventure. Classic science-fiction, dinosaurs, crashed spaceship, what's not to love?” (Simon Guerrier)

I loved the story the performance and the universe created in this book. I don't like spoilers and went in on this knowing only the cover art and was hooked and happy I knew nothing. I felt like a passenger on the New World experiencing it all. I am already listening to book #2, I need to know our fate! If you are considering this experience do it already - no need to spoil anymore.

Awesome Story! Great Performance! Epic Universe!

After two chapters, I bought a shovel off prime. That’s how much I dig it

I haven't finished this yet but I am enjoying it. The narration/acting is kind of goofy with lots of different voices come from the British accented narrator. The science fiction is a pretty engaging story of a mission to Mars getting sabotaged and winding up stranded in the Cretaceous with the saboteurs onboard. The tone of the book is a little goofy. Definitely some British humor going on. Maybe a little over the top, but better than no sense of humor at all! I'm definitely looking forward to Book 2 already. Keep 'em coming!

UPDATE: I still haven't quite finished it but I'm well into the last chapter and still enjoying it. I would definitely buy the next book in the series and I hope it arrives quickly!

Sardonic fun in the Cretaceous

Llewelyn has woven past, present and future into a beautiful story. Well done. Looking forward to next installment.

Good Read

It is just an outline of the events of a plot. No character. Noting more than a dry description.

Mechanical story devoid of character
