The Flock has unleashed a wave of targeted attacks on research facilities across Earth and the terraformed areas of Mars. But are they the enemy or one of Claire’s few potential allies in saving Earth?
Her only clue is the ancient, cryptic journal left behind by alien rebel Eberin Das of the Ufretan Alliance who tried—and failed—to save Mars from his own people. Claire has a partial translation, thanks to Beck, but can she truly trust him now that she knows he’s not only an alien, but a member of that very same Alliance?

This is an unusual series in the fact that I had every intention on stopping after book one and only continued because I was not in a position to stop the audio. Now though, I am so happy that I kept going. While the first book was just a "meh", the second book actually got my attention, and the third not only kept it, but secured my investment.
In this book, Claire and Wyatt uncovered all of the players involved who have a hand in the decision regarding the future of the planet. They also discovered that there were people who were VERY close to them who had histories that did not begin on Earth. Crazy, right?
So now, all of the different parties seem to be out in the open. There is the Flock, who have now moved to violence to stop what they fell will be the progress that will cause Earth's destruction. Then there are the Watcher's - who up until recently = thought that they were on the planet to watch and gently nudge the planet towards the two milestones that were their supposed "goals".
And then there are our main characters - Claire and Wyatt (and Joe and Ro). Humans from Earth who are caught in the craziness and now having to try to figure out if there is a way to save their planet.
Am I hooked? Yep. Yes I am....
What a pleasant surprise
