Oregon State Police Sergeant, Maggie Blackthorne, runs the small station in her hometown. It’s normally quiet, except when a tip leads her to a couple of poachers. Things really heat up when those poachers are murdered…and one calls her just before the killing! Maggie and her team assist the overworked homicide detective in solving the murder. I loved Maggie! She’s full of wit and doesn’t back down from trouble. The narrator portrayal of Maggie is just what I pictured in my head! Looking forward to the next book.

This is a great start to this series. Maggie returns to her hometown to be police Sergeant. I liked the storyline. I wish there was not as much fighting among the police department. Her ex husband was the only thing I didn't like about the book. There is a lot of things going on. It holds your attention. I will continue with this series.
