Mick Oberon may look like just another 1930s private detective, but beneath the fedora and the overcoat, he’s got pointy ears and he’s packing a wand.

Mick is suffering from bad luck, and when luck is your chief magical weapon, that means things are pretty dire. Hunting for the origin of his bad mojo, Mick finds himself on the trail of a missing mummy, and being trailed by some of the most dangerous mobsters in Chicago. As well as once again embroiled in the maneuverings of the seductive and lethal Ramona Webb and her mysterious employer.

All Mick knows for sure is that, until he can figure out precisely what’s going on, he’s vulnerable. And the threat, whatever it is and from whatever direction it may be coming, is very, very real.

Performed by Eric Messner, Nora Achrati, Elizabeth Jernigan, Chris Genebach, Tia Shearer, Terence Aselford, Nick DePinto, Michael John Casey, Kimberly Gilbert, Paul Reisman, Richard Rohan, Bob Payne, Bradley Smith, Ren Kasey, Tim Carlin, Catherine Aselford, Ken Jackson, Elliot Dash, David Jourdan, Christopher Graybill, Delores King Williams, Scott McCormick, Nathanial Perry, Rose Elizabeth Supan, Mort Shelby, Nanette Savard.

Fun and fast paced. Good story. Emersive detail. I live Mick and his attitude. It's a fun and fantastical world

Fast moving. Interconnected stories.

The F bombs and mob-fanfic have eased up and the focus is squarely on Mick Oberon, a Fae gumshoe in 1930s Chicago. I like that the series has veered more into the fun and the camp. Or should I say vamp? There’s several dames here and they’re all of the femme fatale, oozing sex appeal, variety.
There are some connections to the prior books, but I also think this worked as a standalone.

The dames steal the show

Mick Oberon is under the gun, er, wand, er, yeah. Enemies and threats on all sides and he's pretty sure he's hexed. Cuz bad mojo, ain't it an iron-barred kick to the head? Do not miss this series or this Graphic Audio Production. Seriously. Eric Messner's performance as Mick Oberon himself, in particular. He *is* Mick. And I can only hope that if perhaps one day (please please pretty please) this series is turned into a limited Netflix or Amazon production, Eric Messner is the first and only choice to reprise the role. The rest of the cast and the production values themselves only further elevate an already excellently written world of gangsters, gats, and...fae? Yeah, it works. Trust me, bo.

Mick Oberon Just *Can't* Win for Losing

If you like "standup detective" Tommy Sledge, or Steve Martin in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid or Nick Danger, Third Eye, you will love Mick Oberon.
