After a victorious return from Seattle, Nora Wexler discovers that she's caught up in a catastrophic data breach at the FBI, leaving her without a job or a way to clear her name. While her new flame Travis Greer takes up the cause to set things right, Nora seizes the opportunity to visit some old college friends in Berkeley, CA.

Then, a bitter memory from college quickly resurfaces: the unsolved murder of their friend Maria after a night out on the town. No witnesses, no motive, just a faint memory of a handsome young man with whom she left the bar. While Nora decides to try and solve her lost friend's case, free time becomes scarce when Nora's friend's sister Lauren, a freshmen at Berkeley, experiences a terrible tragedy at a fraternity house.

Deadly Pasts is the second of Nora Wexler's mysteries.

Deadly Pasts is the second book in the Agent Nora Wexler Mysteries written by Jason Letts. The action in Deadly Pasts picks up right after the events in the previous book, Deadly Accounts. After a successful case closure, FBI agent Nora returns to headquarters just to find out that her name has been removed from the bureau’s offices.

Without giving any spoilers away, I can tell you that she is put on administrative leave because of a security breach and, to kill the free time, she is pulled into an investigation of her own involving a cold case from when she was in college.

The writing style is easy to follow, the plot is interesting, the characters are compelling, but what elevates this audio production to an entirely new level is the excellent performance delivered by the talented Trudi Knoedler.

I thought that I will review this audiobook at a later date, but as soon as I started listening, I was pulled into the story thanks to Trudi who enriches and elevates the narrative experience with her unmistakable and instantly recognizable voice. She reads, she acts, she brings each character to life in another immersive production.

Deadly Pasts is another solid novel in a really promising series. So, if you’re in the mood for an interesting mystery with a fast moving plot and a beautiful narration, don’t hesitate to give it a try.
