Coming to the aid of a wounded whale, Kit and Nita are plunged into deep wizardry. The whale is a wizard, and she enlists Kit and Nita in battle against the sinister Lone Power. Becoming whales themselves, Nita and Kit join in an ancient ritual performed by whales, dolphins, and a single fearsome shark. But which poses more of a danger: the Lone Power, or ed'Rashtekaresket, the enormous shark as old as the sea?

This book was my introduction to this series, way back in the early 200s, and was my favorite in the series until I read Games Wizards Play. It’s still a very close second. As always, Christina Moore’s voice is a delight to listen to.

My first.

I have been a Diane Duane Fan for a long time and it pains me to write a review of concern. This book, while a great story, has a thread of Suicide running through it. Although one could say that it is has a morale basis in self sacrifice, I would say that with suicide so prevalent in today's youth, themes of this nature may not be the most appropriate. Once angain let me stress thati have been a Diane Duane fan and remain so to this day. I love her work, but this one gets a "PG" rating from me.
