Once a person hikes a long trail, they catch the bug, but does it get any easier the second time around? Four years after starting the Appalachian Trail with his brother, Brian takes to the Continental Divide Trail for his second thru-hike in familiar company. However, trail life is not always as rewarding and romantic as the pictures you see or second-hand stories you hear.

Divided provides an accurate account of life on trail: what hikers ponder, eat, love, loathe, and the questions they tire of answering. Some moments are too short, some are painfully long, while others are whisked away unceremoniously with the wind. Follow along on the journey as Brian navigates difficulties, successes, and everything between while attempting to walk from Mexico to Canada.

Terrific story, I loved the whole thing. I didn't want it to end just as the author that wrote the story and hiked the hike. The author is excellent with his quick wit and great descriptions. it felt like I was part of his journey. I would read this again at a later time, And recommend it to anyone that loves the CDT and Hiking. JS

A lot of helpful insights into what it’s like to do a super long hike. I was hoping for more descriptions of the terrain, flora and fauna, and more detail on essential survival equipment. I wanted less preaching about how a long hike compares to other people’s life choices which the author saw as less important and less brave than his own.

A worthwhile read

Trail diary is real inspirational and good. Descriptions of flora n fauna terrific. Observations on mankind naive and shallow. But in the end a good read of trail life on the CDT.

Pretty good-inspirational

He went on and on and on. Tell us about the trail. Not every single thought that went through your head.

A bit tiresome.

This is not a story of the CDT. It's an anti social guy smoking weed, venting and philosiphizing

Arrogant pontificating or trail story
