Chaos beckons.

Newlyweds Jacob and Alexa arrive at a small mining town to visit a fabled ancient castle on its outskirts.

Soon after, the same town draws another visitor police officer Keri, who recently received a mysterious letter from her childhood friend.

Captured by rural serenity, they are unaware of an evil curse festering in the soil, decaying the buildings and minds of the people living inside them.

However, a series of seemingly unrelated ghastly events quickly spiral out of control, bringing corruption into the open.

Now, they must struggle to keep their lives and sanity intact or transform and join the ravenous ranks of the Eldritch Beasts.

Reader does very well with acting and changing her voice and mannerisms for each character and does it well. I enjoyed the story and the reading of it from beginning to end. Good amounts of suspense. mystery and existential horror. I am a fan.

I hope they do it for the rest of the series.

Eldritch horror that I hoped for

A wonderful supernatural horror and great narrator. Good build up of suspense as things get worse

Good story and reading

The story started off well enough, setting the scene of an innsmouth-esque town plagued by eldritch horrors. But then everything happened all at once, there was no build up, too many POVs without time to get to know the characters, and switching immediately to more action with no rest between, absolutely no build up of tension or mystery, it’s all laid out quite obviously, and a new Cthulhu Mythos or general horror creature is introduced basically every time we see a new character, which got very stale very fast. Also, the ending was just extremely lackluster and missed the mark personally for the indescribable dread of cosmic horror. Great narrator though, but I won’t finish the series.
