The endearing true story of a Type-A mom struggling to care for a daughter who has Type 1 diabetes--and the incredible service dog who changes their lives for the better.

Stefany Shaheen takes readers on an emotional journey as she tries everything to manage her daughter Elle's deadly and unpredictable disease, all while juggling a family of four children. Overcoming the skepticism that a dog can provide answers that medical science is still seeking, the family finds a resounding sense of peace and reassurance through Coach's near miraculous abilities as a medic-alert dog, specially trained to detect dangerous changes in blood sugar levels. Elle & Coach is a story of determination and finding hope in the most unlikely of places.

This is a great book about hope and the ability of a service dog to save lives. My only annoyance with this book was that it presents evidence throughout of the dog saving and changing a young girl with Type 1 diabetes' life and then at the end, it Speed doubt about it being verifiable! So strange. Other than that it is a great story about a family, the challenges of diabetes and about social responsibility in a family that takes civic duty seriously. Very inspiring.

A great book about the power of service dogs

I loved the book, thank you for sharing! I worked at ECF for 22 years and supervised the Cares program within the facility a few years. I seen the hard work the offenders put in and I also see the excitement on graduation day. It's such an amazing experience for all!

This book is so good! I love how detailed everything is. I have a diabetic alert dog that I've trained myself and he is still in training so hearing everything that he will be able to do for me was incredible!

AMAZING
