This Penguin Classic is performed by Tanya Reynolds, star of Sex Education. This definitive recording includes an introduction by Fiona Stafford.

With its imperfect but charming heroine and its witty and subtle exploration of relationships, Emma is often seen as Jane Austen's most flawless work. Beautiful, clever, rich-and single-Emma Woodhouse is perfectly content with her life and sees no need for either love or marriage. Nothing, however, delights her more than interfering in the romantic lives of others. But when she ignores the warnings of her good friend Mr. Knightley and attempts to arrange a suitable match for her protégée Harriet Smith, her carefully laid plans soon unravel and have consequences that she never expected.

I listened to the audio while reading the paperback book and very much enjoyed the narration and the story!

I’m just now reading this classic for the first time at 30, but I found it really enjoyable. My only complaint would be the ending is a bit abrupt. As for narration, I thought it was very pleasant. I would say she seems to take a long breath/pause at the end of many sentences, which can be distracting or confusing, but it wasn’t a huge issue for me. Definitely recommend if you enjoy this book/author/genre!

Great story, very good narration

I like the books by Jane Austen, having become a recent fan. At first I was not a fan of the main character, Emma, but as I read (listened) more I found myself wanting to listen as often as I could. Granted, they spoke and wrote much differently than we are used to so listening carefully is key. The narrator was very good. Now I will watch one of the movie versions.

Thoughtful story line
