Nineteen years, two hundred and twenty eight months, nine hundred and eighty eight weeks, six thousand nine hundred and thirty five days—that’s how long Jim kept his identity secret from his wife, Cora. One crisp fall evening, a wolf appeared along Jim and Cora’s fence line, shattering her understanding of the world—the mortal world. Before Cora had the time to process that her husband isn’t who he says he is, she’s thrown into the Autumn Court and forced to navigate a new culture.

An answer to the Autumn Court’s prayers, Cora is their last hope in breaking the curse that leaves their people unable to have children. And while Cora is still healing from the hurt Jim caused, she must train to save an entire race she never knew existed. New customs, High Fae, and magic test Cora’s loyalty.

Will she grow through deception, training and all things High Fae to reach her full potential or will she crumble under the pressure as the fate of the Autumn Court rests in her hands?

Execration of Autumn is a high fae fantasy with found family, betrayal and the ultimate test of loyalty. Welcome to the Autumn Court.

This was a delightful change from the "typical" fantasy novels I tend to read. Both MCs were mature adults, had excellent communication skills, and were already in a long-term, established relationship which was refreshing. The world building was snuck in as little pieces as the story progressed so it was easy to understand & retain instead of being overwhelming. I adore both Cora and Jim, enjoyed watching them grow individually & as a couple, and love that they have respect & compassion for everyone in the Autumn Court regardless of their status. The wide range of supporting characters were so much fun to get to know & love too! The ending broke my heart but gave me hope at the same time. I'm so ready for them to journey to the Summer Court next!

Tiffany hit it out of the park with this narration!! She took care making sure each character had their own voice & ensured each of their unique personalities shown through. You can not only hear but feel all of their emotions. From sassy banter and silly sibling & friend conversations to the high intensity magic training and battles, I loved it all & couldn't get enough!

Refreshing Change

Book Review: Execration of Autumn - Lilac Cursebreaker Series book 1

This was a great shorter length fantasy book. It walks a line between some cozy vibes and darker themes really well and was highly enjoyable. Tiffany did an excellent job with the narration.

Cora lives with her husband of 19 years when everything suddenly changes. She learns that her husband isn't human at all and everything she thought she knew from the first time her husband actually saw her to who made her wedding dress wasn't what she thought. I appreciated that while she rolled with a lot of what happened, she also acknowledged and told her husband that there was anger and deep hurt after being lied to. So often I read fantasy and they either nurture that hurt or they too easily accept everything. The FMC walked a good balance between communicating that hurt and still finding a way to cope with the changes.

Some tropes in this book:
Fae x human
Shifters
Prophesy to be fulfilled
Found Family
MMC and FMC are actually adults (not barely out of adolescence)
Overcoming curses
Finding hidden powers

I'm looking forward to the next audiobook to come out so I can continue the story.

great start to fantasy series

I really love the main character being a woman who strengthens herself, overcomes challenges, and grows into her true identity -- not because of her man, but with her man beside her (beside-adjacent, lol). And I love a man who isn't stealing the spotlight; steady, strong, and ready to move heaven and earth for her. Cora is great by herself, but Cora & her man are incredible and world changing-- together.

The ending is a whirlwind and epic cliffhanger, I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on Isolation of Winter!

Strong character development!
