Knocked-up and seriously broke, a successful publicist is plunged into a topsy-turvy world of welfare mothers and drug addicts, and forced to confront the family she left behind. Fabulation is a darkly comic rags-to-riches-to-rags tale of falling down and reaching up to find the goodness within.

Editorial reviews

When an uptown African-American Ivy-educated publicist finds herself pregnant and abandoned, she returns to her parents' home in the projects, complete with welfare mothers and drug addicts, in order to become a part of the family she left behind. L.A. Theatre Works' production is strong in its vocal presentation. Charlayne Woodward, who was a cast member of the original production, gives Undine a sort of "arrogance with a purpose" that makes her as fascinating to listen to as she probably was to watch. The voice characterizations are many and varied, with each actor creating several different characters to accompany Undine on her journey to reality and the simple concepts of love and acceptance.

A great play and adaption about a woman who gets humbled and faces the truths of her undoing with no Black Trauma or tragedy; but a lot of Dark humor and a lot of love.

A fabulation

This recording is far too short to be worth a full credit. The fact that it's a recording of a live play is even more disappointing. I took a chance on it. Don't do the same.
