In the city of sin, magic isn’t just a dream; it’s something to be enforced.

Alex Colin has been selected as a candidate to take Fate's test. Together with 3 others, Alex must prove his skills in combat, intellect, and in social situations, to earn the Fate’s trust and take on the mantle of an Enforcer before the dungeon becomes too dangerous for them to survive.

One year later, Alex's life takes an unexpected turn when an up-and-coming mage has gone missing from the university across the Veil. His only lead? A playful puca with bunny ears and a mischievous smile.

As Alex nears the end of his assignment, he finds himself embroiled in a much deeper investigation than the Fates foretold. He must navigate a treacherous web of deceit and along the way, he will be confronted with an undeniable truth: to judge the Fae, he must understand them and their ways - and that may mean learning to love as they do.

The story was pretty fun, a different experience from the other books in the series, but good all the same.
Not as much focus on action as the other books in the series, and it focuses more on solving problems with wit and guile, but it still rewarded just as much fun and wit as the other books in this series.
While both narrators had good range for the characters, where each character was distinct in their voice, there were some instances where the correct emotion or weight was not conveyed correctly.
That's not to say each narrator didnt bring life to each character, but some of the interactions didn't seem as impactful as could have been due to not having the correct inflection or emotion displayed.
That was my only complaint about the book, but overall this audiobook was a great companion to the book and is worth every penny spent on it.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading and listening to this installment and I urge you to enjoy it too!

The voice acting was amazing! The depth of emotions portrayed by the narrators was phenomenal. Having both a Male and Female do the voices for the respective genders added such a great nuance to the story.

Having read the story and loving it, the narration was like a delicious dessert that I couldn’t leave alone.

A Great Addition to the Genre

I read this on KU, and absolutely had to try it as an Audiobook. Personally I really like the duet narration, and the characters are a lot of fun. I’d love to see more of Matt, but the sleuthing our heroes partake in is a blast!

Loved the Book, Love the Audio

This book popped up in a sale, and I figured, what the heck I can get another book. I LOVED IT! Alex is a great down-to-earth kinda guy who got tricked into working for the fates because #chivalry. I believed him as a good guy, as capable, and as NOT MAKIBG STUPID MISTAKES as can annoy me so much in books lately. Grace is my favorite character (such a sweetheart!), even though I don't understand fully myself. I dunno, I just want to hug her and eat candy with her or something. She's got good vibes!

Now, the narration. I had never heard of these narrators, but wow did they do a good job! The book was already good, but the narration was like adding sprinkles on ice cream. I could enjoy the ice cream without it, but there is something about these sprinkles that just has me kicking my feet like a giddy kid.

Overall, this book is 10/10! I already grabbed book 2 on KU, but I have to grab the audiobook when it comes out too. It just adds SO MUCH
