When the government corruption and reckless spending is made visible via the many news agencies, the taxpayer can vote for the candidate they think will do the best job and curb these negative practices by Congress. This is of course great for all Americans who have the right to vote out politicians who don’t create common sense policies in the taxpayer’s interest.
This is not true however for government agencies like FEMA where the taxpayer cannot in most cases vote for or against their existence. Instead, we rely on Congress to address the formation and governance of these agencies like FEMA that may or may not be in the best interest of the taxpayer. If Congress is lackadaisical in their oversight, these agencies will run amuck and spend money like a drunken sailor.
So, how do these agencies like FEMA get away with wasting billions through fraud, incompetence, and deceptive practices? Because the “oversight” is done by ignorant and corrupt individuals within the agency and outside the agency by corrupt and insipid bureaucrats who don’t mind spending other people’s money. They also know there will be little or no consequence for their actions because they control the outcome.
These bureaucrats sound the trumpet about how much their agency is spending “for the common good of the public” like FEMA, when in fact they are perpetuating fraud, mismanagement, and money laundering. FEMA is a premier agency thought of the mind of Americans as the “Conscience of America” that ostensibly restores and uplifts communities after major disasters. In the past that was the case but lately it has devolved into an insidious morass, completely unrecognizable from the original agency founded by Congress.
