Cleveland belongs to the mob… but the Hatchet Man has other plans.

Cleveland, 1946. A man wakes up on the banks of the Cuyahoga River—bandaged, broken, and with no memory of who he is. The only thing he remembers: visions of a child’s drawings of a hatchet-wielding hero… and the face of a woman who might be the key to his past.

With nothing to lose and rage burning in his veins, he takes up the hatchet and carves a bloody path through the city’s crime-ridden underworld. Every fight, every dead gangster brings him closer to the truth. But Cleveland is owned by a ruthless mob boss with an army of killers and secrets buried deep in the alleys and speakeasies of postwar America.

To uncover his past, he must survive the present. To lose is death. To win might cost him his soul.

Hatchet Man is a relentless pulp noir thriller packed with brutal action, ruthless criminals, and an unforgettable antihero who doesn’t forgive—or forget.

Perfect for fans of:

  • Mickey Spillane

  • Dashiell Hammett

  • Classic revenge-fueled crime fiction

He doesn’t remember his name—but Cleveland will never forget the Hatchet Man.

I did the listen/read thing where I sometimes read the Kindle book and sometimes listened to the audiobook. I listen to a LOT of books so I'm used to the virtual voice narrator. I recognize not every author can always hire a professional narrator for every book. In fact, some professionals have voices that irritate me way more than the AI voice. Anyway, Samuel Brower is a very creative writer and I enjoy his books, including this one, very much.
